Teaching with Street Challenge

The overarching pedagogy of the Street Challenge is iterative and reflective engagement within a specific location. This pedagogy can be employed in a semester-long class or in a single-class model.

The semester-long version, starts with readings and exercises describing ecosystems. This continues with a variety of exercises and assignments focusing on one or other aspect of the location. Finally, culminating with final recommendations for success in the location, participants return to the same place to examine the different elements and interdependencies.

In a single-class session model, similar concepts about the nature of ecosystems and the value of appreciating them can be explored. The journey of the pedagogy is flexible both in the path taken as well as the time spent.
